Firefighters attended the scene after a fire in the stairwell of a tower block in Stretford.

Two fire engines attended Stretford House at around 5.30pm on Wednesday (July 10).

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spokesperson said there was a fire in the stairwell of the tower block on Chapel Lane.

The fire engines from Moss Side fire station and Manchester Central fire station were in attendance at the scene for around one hour and 15 minutes.

A GMFRS spokesperson said: "At around 5.30pm on Wednesday (July 10) two fire engines from Moss Side and Manchester Central fire stations attended a fire in the stairwell of a block of flats on Chapel Lane.

"Firefighters used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and made the immediate area safe. Crews were in attendance for around one hour and 15 minutes."
