The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in Trafford.

The yellow warning from the national forecaster, which covers the North West, will start at 3pm today, Monday, and end at 9am tomorrow, Tuesday.

Forecasts show that there will be heavy outbreaks of rain at times with a risk of thunder which are expected to develop this afternoon and evening.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “15 to 20mm rain may fall in less than an hour, with a few places seeing up to 40 mm in two hours but perhaps more widely within a longer period overnight.”

These conditions may result in slow travel times, localised flooding, and a small chance of flooding in homes and businesses.

Tonight, Monday, heavy downpours are increasingly likely however temperatures will stay mild.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, will start off cloudy with a chance of showers but will turn sunnier and will feel cooler and breezier.

For the rest of the week, the Met Office added: “Warm and bright on Wednesday with sunny spells.

“Turning breezier overnight with some rain. The rain clearing to sunnier conditions on Thursday. Becoming windier on Friday with rain later.”
