Trafford residents are being encouraged to show their local park some love by taking part in an organised litter-pick.

In total, seven litter picks are being organised across the borough as part of National Love Parks Week, which takes place between Friday, July 26, and Sunday, August 4.

Trafford Council is working with engineering company Amey as part of the One Trafford Partnership and has organised the special litter-picking events in parks across the borough.

The litter-picks will help celebrate the National Love Parks Week and help keep some of Trafford's green spaces tidy and ready to be enjoyed by all members of the community.

The council is asking residents to spare one hour of their time to come along and help clean up the parks while getting some fresh air and meeting new people in your area too.

The planned litter picks are as follows:

  • Monday 29 July – Longford Park, Stretford – 11am – 12pm
  • Tuesday 30 July – Oak Road Playing Fields, Partington – 11.30am – 12.30pm
  • Tuesday 30 July – Pickering Lodge Park, Timperley – 1pm – 2pm
  • Wednesday 31 July – Merlin’s Park, Old Trafford – 11am – 12pm
  • Wednesday 31 July – Dainwell Park, Sale – 11am – 12pm
  • Thursday 1 August – Woodstock Park, Broadheath – 11am – 12pm
  •  Friday 2 August – Moss Park, Stretford – 11am – 12pm

All equipment, including bags and litter pickers, will be provided by the council.

Cllr Stephen Adshead, executive member for highways, environmental and traded services, said: “Love Parks Week is the perfect time to celebrate our local green spaces, and hopefully we will have some sunny weather so we can all get out and enjoy our parks.

“Our teams work really hard alongside our Friends of Parks groups to maintain our parks and keep them looking good all year round. If you can spare a little time, please do come out and get involved with our litter-picking events this Love Parks Week.”
