Lloyd Square wins public 'Name the Square' vote

Back in April, the Stretford town centre team launched a community-powered campaign to name the town's new public square, set to open in 2025. The campaign captured the imagination of the Stretford community, gathering over 400 name submissions. The town centre team narrowed these down to three finalists, which then went to a public vote closing on 16th June. With over 1600 votes cast across social media, the Stretford town centre website, and a public ballot box, Lloyd Square was declared the winner with the largest share of the vote. Lloyd Square has been named in tribute to local politician and Stretfordian Sir Tony Lloyd MP.

Lloyd Square will serve as a vibrant community hub for Stretford, providing a place for people to meet, socialise or just take a seat and watch the town go by. It will also be the new venue for town centre events such as the Stretford Socials.
