Two Trafford Carpetright stores are to close in the coming days despite a takeover by rival retailer Tapi.
The stores at Altrincham Retail Park and Trafford Retail Park are among more than 200 stores to close.
On Monday (July 22), Tapi said it was taking over 54 sites and two warehouses, but to take over at all sites and warehouses was "unviable". This after Carpetright appointed administrators due to decreased demand and a cyber-attack this year.
There are around 1,018 redundancies out of around 1,852 roles before the company went into insolvency.
Jeevan Karir, Tapi's managing director, said: "We turned ourselves to trying to save a number of stores whilst being mindful of how the competition authorities would look at any deal.
"So, we arrived at 54 stores and two supporting warehouses, all of which are exceptional and which we would be proud to have as part of the Tapi family.”
