Town hall bosses in Trafford have reinforced their partnership with a major property developer which will see around 900 new homes built across three sites in the borough.

Trafford Council has established a trio of joint ventures with Bruntwood, including the regeneration of Stretford Mall where the new King Street and public square will open in 2025.

Councillors on the authority’s executive have approved a structure which will allow new homes built by Bruntwood at Stretford, Lumina Village on the site of the former Kellogg’s building and Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter, subject to planning permission.

Trafford’s executive member for economy and regeneration Cllr Liz Patel said: “I am pleased that our work with Bruntwood will continue to grow over the coming years.

"We have seen fantastic progress on the Stamford Quarter, Lumina Village and Stretford Mall projects which has secured transformational investment into our town centres and brought forward high-quality, affordable housing on brownfield sites.

“Demand for housing in Trafford is high. The provision of new homes on a scale that will help tackle the housing crisis is a key priority, this new partnership will go some way to making sure we can deliver on those housing ambitions.”

Bruntwood chief development officer Chris Roberts added: “Our ambitious plans in partnership with Trafford council will continue to build on our success of creating thriving town centres across Greater Manchester.

“Trafford has a strong and historic identity, and this is something we want to celebrate and amplify throughout its residences by injecting life back into the heart of the local area.

"These new projects will redefine the purpose and value of community-led living to encourage collaboration and create an inspiring backdrop for Trafford’s residents to live, work and socialise.”
