A salon run by the same family for more than 30 years will now be taken over by one of their young employees.
Ark Hair, in Urmston, has been run by mother and daughter duo, Janet Larkin and Lisa Dean.
Janet has owned multiple salons over the years, and has been owning her own businesses for around 55 years.
Ark Hair was the last salon she continued to own, with some of her clients there having known her through the birth of her daughter, Lisa, 47 years ago.
Lisa started working at the salon herself 30 years ago, when she was around 17 years old, and has helped her mother with the business ever since.
The 73-year-old has now said goodbye to owning Ark Hair as well as Lisa having stepped away from the business due to health reasons meaning she needs a well earned rest.
Lisa said: "Handing the business over is surreal really, it's been my whole lifetime and it the end of an era.
"But, we've had a lot of amazing and wonderful things come from owning a local business and being part of a community.
"It's truly been amazing and shaped our lives in a lot of ways and we can only be grateful for that."
The business is being handed over to Caroline Prior, who began her training at Ark Hair when she was around 17, and has been there ever since.
Lisa said they chose to offer Caroline the business first as 'it just seemed the right thing to do' and that they were determined for the business to remain with someone who would care for it and Caroline was that person.
Janet will still be working a few days at the salon and said she is "looking forward to gently guiding Caroline as she takes the helm of her new business, where she will undoubtedly be just as successful".
The 23-year-old owner is yet to reveal the new name for the business, but Lisa said she is "a hugely successful and creative stylist in her own right".
The company officially passed over to Caroline last Friday (July 26) and the staff went out to celebrate the new beginning.
Lisa and Janet said they were thankful for all their clients over the years, who they said "shared with them the highs and the lows of life, not just as clients - but as friends".
