A first-of-its-kind community art project has been revealed in Sale.
Sale at Work is the brainchild of photographer Sonya Smith and writer Lucy Tomlinson—both residents.
The duo aims to spotlight diversity within Sale's workforce through exploring interconnectivity among its professions.
Ms Smith said: "What became clear as the project progressed was just how reliant we all are on one another—we all need the nurse, but maybe the nurse needs the tram driver to get to work?
"Maybe the tram driver need the cake maker to make their child a birthday cake?
"And on and on."
Lucy Tomlinson also highlighted the pleasure people can derive from their jobs.
She said: "We tend to think of work as something people have to do but would prefer not to, but we found that many people spoke about the meaning, joy and pride they find in their working lives."
Stanley Square's general manager, Tony Martin said: "When Sonya approached me about the project, I was delighted to be able to offer her our Hiya community space for the exhibition.
"Sale at Work embodies community spirit which is our core value at Stanley Square."
Sonya Smith added: "Working on Sale at Work has been an incredible experience, giving me a chance to meet just a few of the people who keep my home town running and to hear more about their lives and the high and lows of their work."
The exhibition is on display throughout August.
