A bakery, with a stall in Altrincham Market, has been shortlisted for four national awards.
The shortlisted finalists for the 2024 Baking Industry Awards (BIAs) were announced every day last week.
Lovingly Artisan, which has a base at Plumgarth's in Kendal and a stall at Altrincham Market in Manchester, was shortlisted in four categories—the most of any bakery in the country.
The bakery's extra northern biscuits were singled out for special attention in the New Bakery Product of the Year category, competing against products from Asda, M&S, and others.
The Rye Berry Sourdough also got a nod in the Speciality Bread Product of the Year category.
Lovingly Artisan was also nominated in the Craft Bakery Business of the Year category, and Aidan Monks, co-owner of Lovingly Artisan, was shortlisted in the Baker of the Year category.
He had stiff competition from four other bakers.
The centrepiece of the awards, the black-tie evening, will be held on October 24 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, where the winners across all 12 award categories will be announced.
British Baker editor Amy North said: "The Baking Industry Awards celebrate the people, products, and businesses that make the sector such an incredible one.
"Lovingly Artisan is the only business to be shortlisted in four separate categories this year.
"This outstanding achievement highlights the quality and passion of everything Aidan, Catherine, and their fantastic team are delivering on a daily basis.
"It is an exemplary business which serves as a reminder of the thriving artisanal bakery scene in Britain."
Commenting on their four category short listings, Lovingly Artisan’s Aidan Monks and Catherine Connor said: "It’s a real honour to be shortlisted alongside the other finalists in this year’s BIAs.
"We’re both blown away that we’ve been shortlisted in four award categories."
