An Altrincham Football Club fan with Down syndrome is taking on an incredible running challenge across 10 European countries.
Joseph Adams, 21, is aiming to run 10 10Ks in five days to raise £250,000 for a disability sports programme at Altrincham FC Community Sports.
The "No Limits" challenge received a £20,000 boost from online electrical retailer AO and has raised more than £200,000 so far.
The family-run challenge will conclude in Altrincham on September 1 with the final 10K passing by the home stadium of Joseph's favourite football team.
The raised funds will boost the appointment of a disability sports officer at the club's community charity and start a programme for individuals with special needs.
The higher target will also fund training and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities locally.
Joseph's father, Phil Adams, recalled how they had been told of the limitations his son would experience due to his Down Syndrome.
Phil said: "We vowed to take a No Limits approach to what he could do and 21 years later, we couldn't be prouder of him."
Joseph has triumphed in multiple sports, achieving gold medals in Special Olympics swimming and now taking on this new challenge despite disliking running.
Joseph is excited about the challenge, he said: "I am really looking forward to visiting lots of countries and running with my family and I can't wait for a beer at the finish!"
The "No Limits" campaign aims to showcase an individual's true potential rather than focusing on their perceived limitations.
Several businesses including Castore, DMR, and FK Group among others have given their endorsement to the initiative.
Altrincham FC's official sponsor AO and its CEO John Roberts, along with his wife Sally, have donated a combined £30,000 to the campaign.
Mr Roberts said: "Joseph is an incredibly inspiring young person.
"I've always believed that for those willing to put in hard work and believe in themselves, the sky really is the limit.
"We can't wait to see him pass the finish line and smash his target."
