Fire crews were called to the Kellogg's factory in Trafford Park last night (Monday, August 26) to deal with a blaze that broke out.

Crews were called at around 6.40pm to the building on Park Road, with fire engines from five stations attending the scene.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed that the fire stemmed from one of the upper floors of the factory and involved the ventilation system.

The fire crews extinguished the fire and remained at the site overnight before handing the building, which is owned by Kellanova, back over to management.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At around 6.40pm on Monday 26 August, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a commercial building on Park Road, Trafford.

“Fire engines from Stretford, Sale, Eccles, Salford and Altrincham stations quickly attended the incident. The fire involved the ventilation system on one of the building’s upper floors.

“The building was evacuated and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used jets to extinguish the fire. GMFRS crews remained at the scene overnight to dampen down any hotspots and have now handed the building back to its management.”

GMFRS did not report any casualties.

The factory, which opened in 1938, is set to close down by the end of 2026 after decades of producing cereals such as Corn Flakes, Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes, Coco Pops and Rice Krispies, with the move seeing 360 jobs lost.

Back in March, fire crews were called to the factory after a fire broke out in an oven in the building.
