A "dangerous" Stretford man assaulted a woman in a house before chasing her into a street and trying to continue the "sustained" attack after she escaped.
Declan Flynn-Barrett appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday, August 28 where he was sentenced for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court heard that on April 17 this year, police were called to reports of a concern for welfare of a person in Stretford.
Flynn-Barrett, of Elm Drive, had become violent against a woman, hitting her and leaving her with several cuts and bruises all over her body.
Flynn-Barrett's actions included him kicking his victim to the stomach and pulling her hair multiple times
The victim managed to escape the property, however Flynn-Barrett, 25, ran after her into the street and tried to assault her again multiple times, which was witnessed by members of the public.
He was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for his actions.
PC Winder, of Greater Manchester Police's (GMP's) Domestic Abuse Team, said: “I would like to thank the victim and their family for coming forward and assisting our investigation. Without their support, we would not have been able to secure today’s sentence.
“Flynn-Barrett was a repeat offender who subjected his victim to a number of abusive acts. He is a dangerous individual who is quite rightly behind bars, away from harming people.
“He put his victim under a sustained attack, kicking her to the stomach and pulling her hair multiple times. His attack continued into the streets and was witnessed by many shocked members of the public.
“I would urge anyone out there who may have witnessed, been a victim of, or know about such upsetting and terrible experiences, that as a force and officers we are here to listen to you and committed on providing the necessary support to help bring you justice.
“No one should ever feel alone in such circumstances and in making contact with us you are doing the right thing.”
