Altrincham is set to host a family-friendly cycling event on Sunday, September 15.

Cyclists of all ages and skill levels have been invited to participate in the circular, slow-paced ride, Altrincham’s Big Ride Out, which will kick off from Stamford Square at 10am.

The Bicycle Society planned the route, which will include the recently integrated Bee Network crossing on Dunham Road, ensuring a safe and enjoyable ride for everyone.

The director of Altrincham BID, Mandy White, said: "We are thrilled to be working with Transport for Greater Manchester, The Bicycle Society, Stamford Cycle Co. and Stamford Quarter to bring this event to Altrincham.

"Thank you also to Cllr Michael Welton, and other members of Altrincham BID’s Business Active Travel Group, who have been instrumental in getting this event off the ground.

"It’s a fantastic way for everyone to come together, enjoy a fun ride and find out more about active travel.

"Enjoy spending time in Altrincham afterwards for lunch and shopping.

"We hope to see many families and cyclists join us for this memorable event."

Activities will be ongoing from 10am to 1pm in Stamford Square including Children’s Balance Bike Sessions, Cargo Bike Try-outs and a Bee Network Information Stand.

Amid the fun, cyclists can also get their bikes checked before setting off by Dr Bike.

Kelly Leat, of Transport for Greater Manchester, said: "We’re really looking forward to Altrincham’s Big Ride Out, it’s a great opportunity for the community to take part in a bike ride together.

"However, for those who can’t ride or are feeling a bit wobbly in the saddle, TfGM offers FREE cycle training courses to help you gain confidence."
