An Alan Bennett classic is to arrive on stage for the start of the season at the Altrincham Garrick.
The History Boys is to arrive at the 100-year-old-plus playhouse for six days on September 16.
The Alan Bennett classic is set in the 1980s and it is about a set of sixth-form students who are trying to take a prestigious place at university with the aid of two different teachers and two different teaching styles.
The 2004 London production won three Olivier Awards including Best Actor (Richard Griffiths) and Best Director (Nicholas Hytner) and a 2006 New York production won six Tony Awards including Best Play.
The Altrincham Garrick's production, on the 20th anniversary of the premiere, is a new perspective on it by the director Su Mowat.
It starts a season including other shows such as Jane Eyre, The Wizard of Oz and The Vicar of Dibley all before the turn of the year.
Previously the Altrincham Garrick's artistic director Joseph Meighan said: "We are delighted to present our 2024/2025 season showcasing a range of productions to celebrate the richness of the arts in Altrincham. We look forward to welcoming audiences old and new to experience the magic of the theatre with us."
