An Altrincham businesswoman who abused a Bounce Back Loan during the coronavirus pandemic is to be disqualified as a director for a decade.
Marlen Beesley was the director of Chilli Tortilla, on Regent Road, when it went into liquidation around a year and a half ago.
In 2020, according to the Insolvency Service, which is an agency of the Department for Business and Trade, the business abused a Bounce Back Loan during the coronavirus crisis when it applied for £50,000 based on annual turnover of around £300,000.
In reality, it should have applied for less than £50,000 because its annual turnover was a lot lower than £300,000.
Chilli Tortilla went into liquidation around a year and a half ago with almost all of the Bounce Back Loan outstanding.
After an investigation by the Insolvency Service Ms Beesley is to be disqualified as a director for a decade starting on September 10.
She is not able to be the director of any company in the UK or to be the director of any company with a connection to the UK on pain of a punishment of up to two years in prison.
