People in Altrincham and Sale West voted for change at the last election. That change has begun both locally and nationally.

With pay rises for NHS staff, we’ve ended strikes that cost taxpayers £1.7 billion and led to 1.5 million cancelled operations.

With the creation of Great British Energy and ending the ban on onshore wind, we’re on the way to delivering clean energy that will lower your bills.

And with the introduction of legislation that will see rogue water bosses go to prison if they fail to do their job, we’re getting serious about cleaning up our rivers and streams.

I’ve supported each of these measures in Westminster, but here in Altrincham and Sale West, I’m delivering change through never taking a vote for granted and working hard to be the visible MP you deserve.

I delivered my maiden speech in the House of Commons in September in which I championed all that is wonderful about our community.

I challenged the Integrated Care Board’s decision to permanently close Altrincham Minor Injuries Unit, both in and out of Parliament, and I’ll keep fighting for local health services residents can rely on.

And I’ve held MP surgeries for residents across the constituency as well as hiring a local team that have supported me to help hundreds of people so far.

When Parliament returns, I’ll be campaigning for change.

I’ll be pushing our government to go further on sewage pollution and meeting water companies and regulators, so that we can clean up waterways such as Caldwell Brook that have been left in a terrible state by the last government’s inaction.

I’ll be holding a Parliamentary debate on mental health support for those with a terminal illness after meeting a bereaved constituent who is bravely campaigning on this issue.

I’ll also be calling for reform of the Healthy Start Allowance, so the lowest income parents can afford healthy food for their young children.

Of course, there are challenges locally and nationally for me and the Labour government, and we know there’s so much more to do.

But as the recent Labour party conference proved, we are united in delivering what we were elected to do: an NHS back on its feet, streets that everyone feels safe in, producing our own clean energy, and giving every child the chance to go as far as their talents will take them.

I will support these missions for government however I can because I know the difference they will make locally.

I take the responsibility of being our community’s first Labour MP very seriously and I will work tirelessly to repay the trust of people who voted for me, and to earn the trust of those that didn’t.

Connor Rand is the MP for Altrincham and Sale West.
