A young Trafford man who assaulted a police officer and committed driving offences has been sentenced.
Malachi Hewitt-Brown, of Harley Road, Sale, appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Friday (October 11) where he pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, driving without insurance and failing to stop when required to do so.
The 20-year-old was driving on Wellington Road, Altrincham two days previously on Wednesday, October 9, despite the fact he did not have insurance.
When a police officer asked him to stop the car he was driving, he refused to do so.
Hewitt-Brown then assaulted a male police officer who was acting in the exercise of his functions as an emergency worker.
At the sentencing hearing, he was handed a community order, requiring him to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
Hewitt-Brown was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the police officer he assaulted and had six points added to his driving record.
