Plans to convert an office redundant office block into a 27-bed aparthotel near the home of Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium have been tabled.
London-based Earth Creation Ltd have applied for planning permission to transform the building on Talbot Road, Stretford into the ‘temporary’ living facility.
If plans are approved by Trafford’s planning committee each self-contained apartment in the building will accommodate between one and eight people.
Agent Origin Planning Services Ltd, representing Earth Creation, in a design and access statement published on Trafford’s planning portal said: “The former use as office space is now surplus to requirement, and it is proposed to convert the building into 27 short term residential lets, which would principally support the surrounding leisure and tourism sectors, as well as providing temporary accommodation for contractors and other business users.”
It says the stripping out of the office accommodation has already begun and that the external appearance of the four-storey building will remain the same apart from the addition of three windows.
The statement added: “Other elements of the apartment [block] will also reflect a contemporary approach with air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points being installed. The applicant is keen to explore installing PV panels [solar energy panels] to the roof.”
“The application site represents a strong sustainable location with excellent public transport access, and reasonable travelling distance to necessary amenities including shops, doctors, and recreational and leisure spaces.”
