What is an Allergy?
Allergies result from a heightened or altered reactivity of the immune system in response to external substances called allergens.
Symptoms: Symptoms of allergy can be very unpleasant and include sneezing, shortness of breath, itching, rashes (hives), sickness and abdominal or digestive problems. In extreme cases anaphylaxis may occur.
What can be done?
At Diagnostic Healthcare we take a detailed history to determine which screening panel will be most appropriate. A simple blood test can be taken to test for suspected allergies. Comprehensive panels, such as general food, inhalant, nuts, seeds and UK profile, are available.
