THE LOCAL manager for Trafford and Greater Manchester Chamber congratulated A-Level students on their success and urged employers and schools to work together.
Nigel McFarlane said: “Firstly congratulations to all students who have been successful with their studies. We need to continue to move away from the age-old debate about whether standards have declined and instead look at whether the current curriculum meets the needs of the economy and employers.
“Employers tell us that school leavers do not have the skills they need for the workplace, which will be ever more important in an increasingly competitive labour market.
“The only way to resolve these issues is for employers and schools to work much more closely so that each party can understand what the other needs.”
