FIREWORKS can terrify cats and dogs to the extent that can bolt and run on to roads and cause car accidents.

Petline organiser Chris Butterworth is urging owners to spare their animals a bonfire fright by taking two simple but important courses of action.

Dogs and cats should be kept in the house after dark and dogs should be kept on a lead when they're taken out for walks until the firework season has fizzled out.

On a different note, 13 cats and six dogs have been re-united with their relieved owners.

* PERRY: a small, ginger and white neutered male cat wearing a green sparkly collar. Went missing in the Morton Avenue area of Stretford on October 4. Call 865 1012.

* RUBY: a small, long haired, brown tortoise shell female cat with a ginger chin. Wearing a blue collar when she went missing in Timperley on October 9. Call 962 9445.

* LUCY: a seven month old, tabby, female cat with white under her chin and on her feet. Wearing a tartan collar with a purple heart shaped disc when she went missing in the Church Road area of Urmston on October 13. Call 749 9514.

* BASIL: a large, long haired, ginger tabby neutered male cat. Went missing in the Carlton Road area of Sale on October. Call 283 7415.
