A MURAL is to be created over the next few weeks to cover an area of the 20-metre hoarding around the Sale Civic Centre redevelopment site with a splash of colour and art.
The mural will be designed to depict key landmarks, skylines and the lifestyles of Trafford - from culture to sport, from youth to health.
A local artist and photographer, Paula Keenan, has been commissioned by the council's arts team and Sale Civic Centre project team to develop the decorative mural with the help of the community.
The mural will be created using photography, made up of a collage of the photographs taken by the artist, which will be changed or transferred onto the artwork. The finished artwork will be attached onto the existing 20 metres of plywood hoarding.
Executive member for culture, communication and lifelong learning, Cllr Jane Baugh, said: "The mural will brighten up Sale town centre as the redevelopment work progresses and aims to offer a taste of the creative vision that will be the civic centre. I hope many people will be inspired to help create the mural and get involved in that sense of vision of the new site. It's a very exciting opportunity for the community to make the new Sale Town Centre their own."
Head of regeneration, Suzanne Hilton, said: "We hope that people will get involved. It's an exciting opportunity to brighten up the town and change the dull face of the hoarding with something which reflects their vision for the future of the centre."
The mural will be officially placed onto the existing hoarding in early November and will remain until the completion of the redevelopment work with a possibility of using the mural inside the new building.
