IT is a bit rich for Labour council leader David Acton to claim that Trafford's finances are sound (SAM, October 11).
He claims that the amount in the general reserves is higher than when Labour came to power. Maybe, but what about the total amount of money the council has in all its reserves added together? This is what people want to know. They may also wish to know how Mr Acton can claim that his party's extra spending has resulted in increased standards in the wake of the damning report in to the borough's ailing social services.
Neither the Labour Party nor David Acton earned the money the council has in its reserves. The people of Trafford earned it and it belongs to the people of Trafford. As such we have a right to know what on earth has happened to all the money.
