URMSTON Hockey Club's Junior Ladies U15 got off to a great start in the 7-a-side Lancashire League.
With new players stepping up from the U13's, the team had a slow start against Tameside but eventually won 2-1 with goals from captain Sarah Mulligan and from Hayley Noblett.
Against a poor Bury side they won 11-0 with goals from Hayley Noblett (5), Sarah Mulligan (3) Leah Howard (2) and Anna Thorley (1).
Salford provided much stiffer opposition and for much of the first half Urmston was pinned back in their own half.
Hayley Noblett broke the deadlock and Urmston finally won 3-0 with Hayley getting a second and one from Sarah Mulligan.
Without their first choice defenders credit must go to vice-captain Kim Yates and Kate Mooney and Olivia Thornley who both played their best games for the club, for conceding just one goal.
Leah Howard and Anna Thorley played their first game at U15 and contributed well to earn the team maximum points.
Urmston U15 boys did not quite equal this.
They won 4-3 in a tense match against Tameside.
Against Bury B they won 12-0 the best score of the day but came unstuck against a very physical Salford side losing 4-1.
