TRAFFORD'S revival continued with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Lincoln United at Shawe View on Saturday.
After Dave Collins had missed an early chance for the busy and confident Trafford team, Cooney set up Alan Cowley who fired into Lincoln keeper Simon Daniel's arms from just 10 yards.
In the 13th minute Cooney rounded bewildered full back Chapman once again and pulled the ball across to the near post where Collins arrived to fire into the roof of the net.
Gradually, Lincoln eased their way into the game but could not break the Trafford defence.
The home side totally dominated the opening stages of the second half and went 2-0 ahead in the 48th minute when Colin Flood drilled a cross in from the left flank and skipper Lee Atherton timed his run to perfection to blast his shot past Daniels.
In the 59th minute the impressive John McAllister produced an exquisite piece of skill to waltz past Barnett and power in a drive that Daniels failed to hold, little Alan Cowley following up to coolly clip the ball home and make it 3-0.
The Shawe View men took their foot off the pedal and allowed the visitors back in the game, Ian Williams reducing the arrears in the 72nd minute when he hooked a shot past Newbrook following a left wing corner.
In the 84th minute Lincoln struck again when Graham Lewis collected a deep cross from the right and powered a shot into the roof of the net from 10 yards to leave Trafford with an anxious and nervy remaining few minutes.
This third successive home victory for Trafford moves them seven places from the bottom of the table and once again demonstrates the fine job that manager Joey Dunn and his Assistant Stuart Humphries are doing with their young team.
On Saturday, Trafford travel to Eastwood Town for a league fixture kicking off at 3 p.m. and then next Thursday they make the short trip to Hyde United for the first round of the UniBond League Cup.
