A GROUP that supports disabled and elderly people throughout the borough is appealing for its equipment to be returned.
The One Stop Resource Centre is a community equipment store that provides a wide range of equipment to help people with disabilities.
But a lot of the equipment it loans out is never returned. The missing goods include things like bath seats, adjustable chairs, children's equipment, kitchen and feeding gear as well as a host of other things.
The resource centre's plea comes after a similar appeal was made by staff at Trafford General Hospital - in a bid to get patients to give back 140 pairs of crutches that had not been returned this year.
Gill Brown, the project leader of the One Stop Resource Centre on Dane Road industrial estate, Sale, said: "It's not just crutches - we'd like our equipment back too!
"Lots of the equipment that we issue goes missing and is never returned. Equipment that is returned can be cleaned, inspected, refurbished and then re-issued, hence reducing our expenditure and ensuring a better service to the old and disabled in Trafford.
"Anyone that has equipment they no longer need, at home, dumped in the garden shed or at a relative's house, can drop it off at the centre or call to arrange collection on 0161-283-4626."
