A LOT of Urmston and Davyhulme residents, for example on Marshbrook Road and on Bent Lanes, mistakenly believe that they own the pavement and the road outside their houses.
They think that they can park there whenever they choose, even if by doing so they are causing an obstruction.
The right of a resident is to drive over the pavement, where there is a dropped kerb, to get onto their property. Residents do not have any right to park in any particular spot on the public road or pavement and if by doing so theroad or the pavement is obstructed, then the law is being broken. Anyone who does not believe this should check with the council or the police.
Observing the law on obstruction would make our roads and pavements safer for everyone.
