I have just received a parking ticket outside Altrincham Leisure Centre. Fairplay I should not have been parked there, but may I say that I genuinely did not know this at the time, but should have known better because you get nothing free in Altrincham.
However the moral of the letter is, last week I was also parked in the same place and after my half hour swim I returned to my vehicle in the pouring rain, started the engine the windscreen wipers came on straight away. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something fall from under the wipers and thought it was just an advertisement that regularly gets put under wiper blades. Driving off and feeling a bit guilty for not picking up the paper due to heavy rain, (as I am very litter conscious) thought no more of it, never dreaming it was a parking ticket.
After receiving this ticket today, it made me think what was that under the wipers last week. After a telephone call to Trafford Council to check, it most certainly was.
I would like to ask all parking attendants that if they must give out tickets then please do it properly and attach it as the envelope advises to the vehicle, by removing the strip on the envelope, as it tells you to and is printed clearly in big black letters.
Parking attendant - remove this strip if required to affix to vehicle
This would have secured it to my vehicle last week and I most certainly would not now have two parking tickets.
The ticket I received today was also not attached properly
