CHURCHES and other historic buildings across the borough will be throwing open their doors this weekend as part of Heritage Open Days.
The four-day event will take place from Friday September 13 to Monday September 16 and opens the doors to more than 2,000 properties and activities across the country that people might not ordinarily enter.
In Trafford, St George Church, Altrincham, St Elizabeth Church, Ashley, Dunham Road Unitarian Chapel, St George's church, by Vicarage Garden Centre in Carrington, and St Paul's Parish Church, Springfield Road, Sale will both be welcoming visitors.
Dunham Road Unitarian Chapel will be holding an organ recital starting at 2.30pm on Sunday September 15.
St George's Church, Carrington is an eighteenth century brick built church with box pews and galleries.
It was built by Isaac Shaw in 1757-1759 for Mary, Countess of Stamford as a chapel of ease to serve the hamlets of Partington and Carrington.
St Paul's Church will be holding a photographic exhibition of the church through the generations as well as artefacts and robes and vestments worn by the clergy. There will also be tours to the top of the church tower.
