A RECENT press article described Sale Town Hall as 'an uninspiring piece of property in the heart of Sale' - and is that surprising?
The frontage of the town hall is a disgrace and has been allowed to become so.
The neglect is shown through rotting window frames and discoloured stonework, weeds, moss and mould have been the norm for a while.
Now we have amateurish, ugly sealing of the handsome, brass letter-box aperture, the clock stopped, though it can run on batteries if power is not available.
The frequently used seats - a boon to weary shoppers and the elderly, have gone and building-company advertising boards are propped in the windows.
The town hall and its frontage are a focal point of the town, for residents and visitors alike and surely remedial attention should have been carried out prior to the impending construction to the rear.
What has been allowed to happen to our once handsome civic building, representative of Sale people, is insulting.
