SALE complete their pre-season programme with a home match against Borders on Friday night.

The newly formed Scottish side travel to Heywood Road for a 7.45 kick-off, and Sharks coach Jim Mallinder will be looking to field his strongest side.

Also, the game will be a big pointer towards whether or not the club's decision to play on Friday nights is a good one.

After that, it is down to the business of the Zurich Premiership, as last year's runners-up Sale entertain Northampton Saints on Friday, August 30.

Sale will be looking to repeat last season's performance in the same fixture, when they won 34-14.

Meanwhile, Mallinder announced last week that Wallaby international centre Graeme Bond has signed for the Sharks on a three year deal.

Graeme, who currently plays for the ACT Brumbies, is due to arrive in Manchester on October 15 and his first home game should be against Bristol Shoguns on Friday November 1.

A useful pre-season work-out at the weekend saw Sharks beat Edinburgh Reivers 26-22 at the Meadowbank Stadium.

Four first half tries, with three converted by Jos Baxendell, put the Sharks in a commanding 26-10 half time lead.

However, the men from the Scottish capital bounced back with two tries and a conversion in the second period, but it was not enough as Sharks claimed the win.
