TALK about being thick-skinned, Peel Holding's must take the biscuit.

A year after licking their wounds at the defeat of the courageous residents of Partington and Carrington, to build a waste management centre in Partington, they have now come up with a new tactical manoeuvre for their latest proposed site, which was highlighted in the Messenger recently.

To shift the plant several hundred metres from the previous site away from Partington and closer to Carrington, which is decent of them, on land off Manchester Road.

In effect all they have done is move the goalposts, and even if they were given the green light to proceed on the project, it still would not alter the situation one iota, that this plant would still be situated amongst a populated area.

Maybe one alternative, which would give the residents of Partington and Carrington peace of mind, is to dump this proposed rubbish-dump in the middle of the desert out of harm's way.

But as we know it's not as easy as that, especially with a big company like Peel Holding's who seem to have a finger in every pie, and the one thing going for the residents of Partington and Carrington, who once again have to mobilize their troops, against an enemy that won't go away, is their fighting spirit.

'Defiant to the end, never give in,' which brought them their first victory over Peel Holding's.

There's a saying in America, 'some days you eat the bear', and 'some days the bear eats you', so let's hope and pray on this occasion, the bear get's eaten.

Keep up the good work.
