A LOCAL chef is sharpening his knives in preparation for the regional heats of a national chef of the year competition.
David Morris, 38, who works at the Axe & Cleaver Pub in Dunham Massey and lives in the village, will compete for a place in the northern semi-finals of the Chef & Brewer's culinary contest in early September.
Mr Morris is hoping to wow the judges with his main dish of roasted fresh cod fillet with Cheshire cheese potato cake and a tangy red pepper sauce.
"I love using local cheeses in my cooking. I buy from the local farm shop to ensure freshness," he said.
The regional winner will receive a chef's jacket and weekend break.
