BONFIRE Night may have passed but fireworks still pose a serious danger to animals, warns Petline organiser Chris Butterworth.
She says locals have been known to let them off well into the New Year and she's urging pet owners to remain vigilant.
Cats and dogs should be kept indoors at night or if their owners go out.
"It's been absolutely horrendous this year. Fireworks seem to be getting bigger and louder. We've had a lot of animals bolting. If anyone has found an animal they should be patient with the welfare societies as far as places are concerned", she says.
Moggies who have access to a home via a cat flap should be left to come and go. Owners should also use their discretion when letting dogs off their leads.
On a different note, 15 dogs and 12 cats have been re-united with their relieved owners.
