THE meeting on October 25 was almost a DIY evening.
The craft section had some beautifully handcrafted Christmas and birthday cards for sale.
Also on display were pretty examples of the art of sugarcraft made by members at a special Cheshire weekend at the WI Denman College in Oxfordshire.
Tickets were for sale for the Christmas party on December 13.
The lovely flowers for the evening, arranged by Mrs Jean Webb, were sent to Mrs Iris Studholme and Mrs Ida Pratt, our choir mistress for 44 years.
Both are at present in hospital.
After the tea break President Mrs Chrys Morton welcomed Mr Derek Goldie, husband of a member, who spoke about 'Gunpowder Treason and Plots' - and the men, including Guy Fawkes who in 1605, plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament.
Mr Goldie was thanked by Mrs Margaret Davidson.
The date of next meeting is November 22 when the speaker will be Mrs B Holland on "China and Pottery Industry".
