POLICE have urged par-ents to make sure they know where their chil-dren are after an 11 year-old boy died in an accident whilst playing with friends.
Patrick Morris, of Par-tridge Street, Stretford, was killed when he became trapped in a roller shutter door at Trafford House on Chester Road, close to his home.
It appeared that he had been playing a game with his friends, which involved riding on the door as it opened to let cars through.
The accident happened on the evening of Thursday November 1. The Blessed Thomas Holford School pupil was pronounced dead at the scene.
The school's head teacher, Lou Harris, said: "The school was devastated to learn of Patrick's accident.
"He was a talented sports-man and a lovely boy, who was popular with everyone. We will do everything we can to support Patrick's family and friends at this dreadful time."
He said he would be consulting Patrick's family to decide on a fitting way for the school to pay tribute to him.
Inspector Eric Holliday of Stretford police said: "Patrick's death is a tragic accident, for it appears he has been caught in the mechanism of the door and died as a result.
"I would like to warn both children and parents of the dangers of playing with mechanical equipment, and Patrick's death is testament to the fatal consequences it can cause.
"Please be aware of where your children are playing and take this opportunity to warn them of the dangers they face if they don't play safely."
The Health and Safety Executive is carrying out an investigation into Patrick's death.
