YOUNG people in Trafford now have access to a wide range of support and information on their doorstep thanks to a new mobile youth centre.
Trained youth workers travel throughout the borough in a specially converted vehicle to offer young people, aged between 13 and 19, advice and information about a variety of issues, from health and sex education to leisure activities or careers.
The vehicle comes equipped with internet access and is designed to help youngsters in all areas of Trafford.
Will Owen, head of Trafford youth service, said: "The mobile youth vehicle is very much an innovative approach to delivering services and even though it has only been around for a very short period, it is already proving extremely popular.
"It is a very flexible facility that allows us to really get in touch with young people in their own communities. We have been building up relationships with the teenagers who are visiting time and time again to make the most of the facilities on their own doorstep."
The vehicle travels around the borough for three-hour sessions and forms part of the Trafford Community Strategy, which is a plan to make the borough a safer and healthier place to live.
Councillor David Acton, leader of the Council, said: "The Community Strategy is about us listening to local residents. We want to ensure that local people are involved in decisions and help us to set priorities for the borough and the youth vehicle is one of the many schemes we are introducing to make sure young people have accessible services they can make the most of it."
