ELDERLY residents feel they are being victimised by a road closure which allows cars to use the road but prevents buses passing down it.
Firs Way in Sale has been closed for two weeks while resurfacing takes place. It is closed to all vehicles except for access, which means residents who rely on buses have to walk back to their houses.
One resident said it was unfair that people who used public transport were hit hardest by the closure.
She said: "Some pensioners are having to walk the whole length of Firs Way carrying their shopping."
Another annoyed resident said: "They should do one side of the road at a time so people aren't inconvenienced like this."
But Peter Townsend, Trafford Council's principal engineer for highways, said: "We had to close the road to resurface it in a safe manner.
"I'm sure residents appreciate that the road was in an appalling condition and needed to be resurfaced."
