AS Bonfire Night approaches, Pet-line organiser Chris Butterworth is appealing to cat and dog owners to keep an eye on their pets.
Dogs should be kept on a lead because the noise of fireworks can terrify them to such an extent they have been known to bolt from their homes and end up under the wheels of cars.
"We've already had one that has run into the road and been killed".
Chris says cats should also be kept indoors when owners go out, because fire-works are currently being let off during the day as well as at night.
It is safe to let them out if they can get back in a house by themselves through a cat flap.
On a different note, 10 cats and 10 dogs have been re-united with their relieved owners.
