Altrincham Aces enjoyed a weekend of double success securing an away victory in the Cup and a home win in the League.
On Saturday night, after a lengthy delay whilst the Billingham ice surface was worked on to allow play, the Aces eventually came away with a comprehensive win.
Goals from Billy Price, Tim Dempsey and Greg Allen gave the Aces a 3-0 lead before the home side could open their account.
Simon Mills and Stephen Elliott added further goals in the final period to confirm the Aces' superiority in a rink where the Aces hadn't won since being re-formed.
Although the Aces conceded a late goal, they were able to move into second place in their Cup group.
Sunday saw the Aces entertain League rivals, Kingston. Goals from Alan Gemmell and Rob Young led to an early 2-0 lead and this seemed to make their visitors lose their composure, with them taking several minor penalties trough reckless challenges.
The Altrincham side were able to make steady additions to their total and took their lead to 8-0 soon after half way, although the Jets ended goalie Phil Verstappen's shut out just before the end of the second period.
With the game's outcome fairly certain, the Jets scored three times in the final period past junior netminder. Liam Thomas, against one further Altrincham goal.
With a result of 9-4 to the Aces (scorers Gemmell 2, Price 2, Nick Crawley 2, Dempsey, Mills and Young), they have moved ahead of Kingston and Blackburn in the League table into a clear second place which they will seek to consolidate in Sheffield on Sunday.
