RETAIL outlets on Railway Street in Altrincham will be given a much-needed face-lift if a planning application gets the go-ahead from Trafford Council.
City Branch Limited has submitted a proposal to redevelop shops at 13-41 Railway Street and introduce a new restaurant and caf.
The owners of three shops along the street have already agreed to lease the remaining new units in the £400,000 redevelopment, which is due to be completed in May next year, if planning consent is granted.
Peter Rackind, chairman of City Branch Limited, said: "We are hoping to bring something back to Altrincham with the redevelopment of these units and the new vibrant shop frontage.
"We have owned the land for ten years and we've been trying to redevelop throughout that time. This proposal will improve the units on Railway Street and we already have 100 per cent occupancy."
The three traders who have agreed to lease the new units are hoping that the redevelopment will boost local business along Railway Street.
Jed Lunt, of Altrincham Carpet and Suite Centre, said: "We've been here for 15 years and we are looking forward to being here for the next 15 years as well, if the planning application goes through. If that happens, our landlords can start work to make this area of Altrincham more attractive to shoppers."
Peter Callaghan, of Altrincham Kitchens, and Raymond Kay, of Fabrics of Chester, also believe that the expansion and refurbishments will enable them to provide an even better service.
