THERE are fears that children's services at Trafford General Hospital face a renewed threat - less than four years after they were saved from closure by the Oliver's Army campaign.
It is feared that the children's ward and special care baby unit could be axed, as part of a wide ranging review of children's services in the region.
A discussion document on the service in the region puts a major question mark against the future of smaller units, such as Trafford General. It highlights the view by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health that there is little justification for small units continuing to exist unless they are geographically isolated.
When Messenger approached Angela of Oliver's Army about the latest threat to the services, she said: "I can't believe it - we seem to be back to where we were four years ago. If we get definite proposals to close the services at Trafford General, we will resume the campaign to keep them."
Angela says there is no connection between her role as head of Oliver's Army and her position as a Trafford councillor.
