ON Sunday, Altrincham Aces were at home to Sheffield Scimitars and eventually ran out with a comfortable win against a team lacking in player numbers.

Aces were quickly on top in the game with Simon Mills scoring the first goal after five minutes.

Aces scored two more through Alan Gemmell and Mills in the eighth minute as Sheffield lost a player due to injury.

Further Altrincham pressure was rewarded towards the end of the period with goals coming from Billy Price, Gemmell and Jason Hewitt to leave the home team six goals to the good.

Aces were running their opponents ragged and were to score five more goals in the second period despite the Sheffield goalie performing heroics.

Price, Mills, Stephen Elliott, Russell Richardson and Arran Richardson all scored for the Aces.

This left the Aces with an 11-0 lead at the buzzer.

Against an increasingly tired set of opponents, Aces continued their scoring in the final period with markers from Greg Allen, R Richardson, Nick Crawley and Gemmell.

However, the match was brought to a premature end by the sendings off of Simon Mills and Sheffield's Hardy for fighting after 51 minutes.

This left Sheffield with too few players to continue the game and the match was called to a halt.
