MRS Mildred Redfern welcomed members to the 39th birthday meeting on October 4 in All Saints Church Hall, Hale Barns.
She was particularly pleased to see eight founder members present.
Birthday cards were received from Mrs Anne Dean and the South Manchester Federation.
Mrs Jennie Butler, music chairman reported that rehearsals are going ahead for forthcoming events and reminded members of the Joan Burns concerts on October 10 and the carol concert on December 9.
The Social Studies Section held an interesting evening on September 13 when Mr J Hill Watson showed slides of and discussed a coastal walk.
Next week Mr Morrisey will show slides on Alpine Flowers.
The bridge section is progressing but is short of one member.
The croquet finishes for the season on October 9.
Letters of thanks were received from Mrs Anne Dean and Mrs Marjorie Nancarrow for the farewell luncheon provided by the committee and hosted by Mrs Marion Harden.
A coffee morning to boost Guild Funds will be held at 222 Grove Lane, Hale on October 19 from 10.30am-12 noon.
Miss M Curry was once more speaker for the evening when she thoroughly entertained members with her wit and photography entitled 'Curious and Curiouser'.
Everyone then enjoyed a piece of birthday cake.
The next meeting will be a combined meeting with the Social Studies Section on the November 8.
There will be a cake stall by Joan Bainbridge.
