A PENSIONER is so fed up with the mess outside her Ashton on Mersey home that she cleans it up herself.
She regularly picks up litter from the grass verges at Chapel Lane.
But the sprightly pensioner says she can't tidy all the road and is appealing for more help to deal with the litter grotspot - including a rubbish bin.
She says people heading from the shops fling down sweet wrappers and fish and chip papers outside the electricity sub station and on the verges.
She told SAM: "The litter builds up and it is such a shame because it is a nice area. I often pick up the litter from my grass verges and even up the road.
"The council cleans the area around the shops regularly but Chapel Lane seems to be cleaned less often. And if we had a litter bin on the corner it would help."
Geoff Marsh, the council's head of environmental services, says: "We will look at this. We do the shops and a bit of Ashton Lane on a daily basis. We will look at reviewing the frequency along Chapel Lane. And we can certainly put a litter bin on the corner."
Litter problems can be reported to the council on 912 3604. People can also contact Trafford Direct 2000 on 912 2000, which provides information and help on a range of council services.
