ANYONE going to the Hare and Hounds pub in Timperley for a quiet Sunday pint could find themselves in for the high jump - literally.

The Timperley hostelry has adopted 'Christie's Against Cancer' as its charity and is holding a fundraising all-day bungee jump.

It is the idea of trainee assistant manager Rick Brownhill, 21, of Baguley, whose father, David, died from cancer a year ago.

Many daredevil staff members and customers from the Wood Lane pub have volunteered to do the bungee jump on Sunday, September 24, for the £25 million centenary appeal of the famous Manchester cancer centre.

They include Rick's brother, Graham, a temporary barman during vacation from Loughborough University.

Rick says: "So far we have given out 50 sponsorship forms and need at least 670 people to make this really work for Christie's. Graham's definitely going to jump and I'm gradually being talked into it. But the more the merrier. Bungee jumping is almost as great to watch as it is to take part."

The 160 feet drop from a crane towering over the pub's old bowling green is being organised by specialists UK Bungee Ltd.

Anyone who raises more than £100 can take part. Full details from Rick or anyone at the Hare and Hounds pub on 980 5299.

The bungee jump day follows a Bank Holiday fun day at the Hare and Hounds which raised £651.
