GREATER Manchester Police's latest campaign to crackdown on the city's illegal sex industry deserves wholehearted public support.
I like many other people living and working in the Manchester area find it sickening and unpleasant to see prostitutes around Piccadilly Station during the day.
It is terribly sad to see young women reduced to selling themselves to make ends meet.
Moreover in doing so they are putting themselves in grave danger.
This is no way to live.
But the fact it is so blatant during daylight hours is disturbing especially to those of us with young families.
It is this side of life which we want to shield our children from until they are mature enough to understand it.
This is why we must give our full backing to Greater Manchester Police's campaign to rid the city of kerb crawlers.
Whilst the oldest industry in the world will never be swept from our streets for good, the police must make it as difficult as possible for prostitutes to operate.
However the real evil in this industry is the pimps. These are the ruthless and immoral people who should have the book thrown at them.
As it is they who are risking the least yet making the most.
