THERE may only be OeOne Jimmy Grimble in the latest British movie blockbuster but there is only one Charles Denton in the eyes of his family.
For the Stretford youngster is one of the stars of the new film released at cinemas nationwide this week.
Sixteen year old Charles was hand picked for a part in the football based film when producers scoured the schools around Manchester.
And when they saw him in acrobatic action at Stretford High school they knew that they had found their man.
Charles, of Gorse Crescent, has already had some acting experience after being involved with the local Green Light Theatre.
But he says it came as a complete shock when he was chosen for the part of the goalkeeper in the movie.
He tells SUM: I have always been interested in drama and acting and that is why I joined the theatre group.
It was more of an interest than a career option because I really want to be a solicitor - although that may change now.
Charles was picked to star alongside the likes of established stars Robert Carlyle and Ray Winstone after auditions at the school.
His mum Lorraine adds: I think that they were impressed with his acrobatic back flips as well as his obvious acting ability and that is why he was the only one selected from the school.
Once chosen, Charles had to sandwich in two months of location filming into his final GCSE year at school, which did pile on the pressure.
What was more worrying though was the fact that every time United fanatic Charles had to go to filming at Manchester Citys Maine Road ground he became ill.
Lorraine says: It was uncanny - first he was sick and we thought that it may be coincidence until he got an ear infection when he was set to go back for more filming.
Charles did recover to complete his filming and also went on to catch up with his studies and obtain 6 A-C pass grades in his GCSEs.
Now he is considering his future with a place secured at college and also the possibility of more acting work.
He says: I have already been contacted by an agent who wants to get me on his books and it is flattering to think that someone has seen me in the film and been impressed.
I still want to keep up my education though and I am pleased that the college have told me that they will help me to do that as best I can.
