URMSTON third eleven all but clinched promotion to division one of the Cheshire County third eleven league with a convincing victory against Cheadel Hulme 3rd XI last weekend.
Heavy overnight rain failed to dampen Urmstons spirits especially AS skipper Williams won the toss and elected to field on an overcast day,
Urmston were soon in the wickets with Sethi claiming two in two balls
thanks to excellent catches by Macormack and Smith.
Ably supported by young Rob Skelly, Graham Fildes and Andy Fildes, Urmston made steady inroads into the Cheadel batting.
The only resistance came from dangerman Wells who made a blistering 61 before becoming one of Graham Fildes three victoms.
Cheadle were skitled for a paltry 122 off 45 overs thanks to a combination oif excellent bowling and fielding, a superb all round-display.
With skies a menacing grey, Urmston set about the required target with great gusto thanks to openers Williams and Andy Fildes.
The experienced partnership posted yet another 50 partnership before Williams was removed thanks to an acrobatic wonder catch from Wells.
Undeterred Sethi, Heys, Graham Fildes and Steve MacCormack all made useful contributions to comfortably surpass 122 wwith only 4 wickets down.
Whilst promotion is not yet confirmed, the victory sees Urmston pull well away from third placed Cheadle Hulme 4th XI with a game in hand.
Final confirmation of promotion will come if Urmston manage to overcome Birkenhead Park 3rd XI on Saturday.
