SALE have another prized scalp to show off after a 19-18 win over Gloucester at Kingsholm on Saturday.
The win puts the Sharks in third place in the Zurich Premiership after two one-point wins.
New signing Vaughan Going scored Sales only try of the match, which was a real birthday present for the Kiwi.
After the match he said, I had tried to get myself a birthday present during the game.
The try was on and, when I took the pass from Bryan Redpath, it was a case of stepping on the gas and getting over.
He went on to say, When Niki Little kicked the conversion and we went 19-10 ahead moving into injury time, I thought that was the game.
Then they came back and scored in the corner to give themsleves a chance of victory.
I thought I had got across to the guy who scored and stopped him . . . but I guess not!
I know we only won by one point for the second week running, but, if thats the way the victories come, well take them.
Boer and Schisano scored tries for Gloucester, one of which was converted by Hayward, who added two penalties.
In addition to Goings try, Sale scored fourteen points from the boot of Nicki Little, who landed the conversion and four penalties.
Although Phillipe Saint-Andrs squad has been decimated with 15 players out with injury, Sharks were still made to work hard for the four points.
It looked as though the game was easily won, but Gluocesters determination shone through late in the game when they blew a chance to win the match with the last kick of the game.
After the match, Sharks coach Glenn Ross explained why he made seven changes from the side that beat Bath.
He said he needed to see what different players could do in game situations, and added I do not want a them and us situation. We will develop more collective commitment if everyone feels he is involved.
